Storm in a teacup

A little thought as I drank my cup of tea in the front garden...the topic being rebellion...and thinking about a parent who is always critical, and whom a child can never really please. Is rebellion the kid’s way of thumbing his/her nose at the parent and trying to convince everybody that s/he doesn’t care, or is it a way of making it all tolerable because if you are doing everything as right as you can and are still getting criticised it must be because you yourself aren’t good enough for your parent , whereas if you are doing everything wrong, you can believe the dissatisfaction is warranted and is aimed only at your actions. The third option which may or may not eventually occur to the kid is that it is the parent who has the problem. Good things for mulling, cups of tea.
